Our ambitions for 2017:

1. To lobby for improvements to fibre-optic super fast broadband speeds in the town and surrounding area. Immediate and on-going

2. Install a Town Trail from Wilton Shopping Village to the town centre and back with interesting landmarks for use by new residents tourists and other visitors alike. (Wilton District Chamber contribution of £3,000 and consultation/input with Town Council.) – JUNE 2017

3. Rural Business Strategy. To design and implement a plan to reach out to the rural businesses in the District to provide business support and networking – March 2017

4. Install new ‘welcome’ signs to Wilton – Andy Rhind Tutt, Wilton Rotary – MaY 2017

5. To help support our members benefit from the Government backed Apprenticeship Scheme.

6. To support, lobby and profile the process of building a new train station for Wilton . The train station will stimulate tourism to the Town, benefit residents’ work and leisure commuting (increase of Wilton population by 30% – Wilton Hill and new Fugglestone Red development) and to support Salisbury Transport strategy. Ongoing 2019

7. Wilton Welcomes – to support and encourage local businesses to support this initiative by Our Wilton, offering discounts and promotions to Armed Forces personnel in line with objective of strengthening the town’s community spirit and military connections –

8. Encourage local businesses to attend a Dementia Friendly workshop for owners and employees of the Chamber members

9. Re Print A5 booklet: Wilton directory for businesses and community use. Widely circulated – second edition June 2017

10. Annual Wilton Event allowing Chamber Member businesses to showcase themselves –
September 2017

11. SUPPORT NEW BUSINESSES in Wilton Enterprise Business HUB, and other Our Wilton initiatives, as appropriate. ONGOING

Ideas Passed to Town Team for development:
*Set up a Tourist Information office and museum
*St Marys Church renovate and refurb the garden area for public use as a quiet space
*Pop-up cinema and monthly Film Club
*Community Bus
*Support for Council in bid to take over community assets
*CCTV in Wilton
*Improving youth and leisure and sporting facilities in the town.
*Bringing into use St Mary’s Church in town centre as tourism information centre and museum, and ‘quiet area’ for residents to sit.

WILTON HERITAGE PLAN – Achievements by The Wilton Chamber

Brought attention for need of Rail Station for Wilton through petition at Wilton Carnival and lobbying (grateful thanks to Paul Johnson and Cllr Horace Prickett.)
Launched Annual Wilton Event to strengthen community spirit among business owners and their customers and clients.
Listing and publicising all businesses in the Chamber’s District – Wilton Directory
Formed a close liaison with Our
Wilton to develop communications between the town, businesses and new residents
Appointment of Wilton Town Manager – support from Our Wilton CIC, CLT
Monthly Breakfast meetings and bi-annual lunches to strengthen business community in the Chamber’s District. Networking,
Sharing best practice and business sales among fellow members.
